I don't think they necessarily view themselves as more or better, it's just that they need to feel that way. They need to feel unique and like they belong, hence why they[empaths] attach so much to that label because they weren't seen or validated for how they uniquely were as a kid. Like how the narcissist needs basic "supply" or ego boost due to experiencing so little or no love at all, empaths need that unconditional acceptance that all children need growing up.
Yes, hsps could very well be on the spectrum, but other criteria for autism seems to not really match us though.
